METHOD FOR OBTAINING WAX MOTH - GALLERIA MELLONELLA L - AS HOST-SUBSTITUTE FOR RAISING ENTOMOPHAGES

FIELD: entomology. SUBSTANCE: the suggested method deals with collecting Galleria mellonella L. cocoons and their application upon nutritive medium. These cocoons require no usage of special technical means as compared with butterflies, and their chrysalis is isolated from environment and requires no disinfection as eggs do. The suggested method enables to shorten expenses of nutritive medium and increase productivity. The present innovation could be applied under laboratory conditions to obtain hosts-substitutes in either raising or studying entomophages. EFFECT: higher efficiency.
