FIELD: organic chemistry, chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method for preparing 1-phenyl-1-(alkyl)phenylacetones of the general formula: RnC6H5-nCH(C6H5)COCH3 wherein R means alkyl; n = 1-3. Method involves preparing firstly the complex 1-chloro-1- phenylacetone with aluminum chloride in methylene chloride or chloroform, or carbon tetrachloride at temperature 30 C, not above, followed by its interaction with alkylbenzene at temperature 30-50 C. Method provides elimination of disproportionation reaction of alkylbenzenes. EFFECT: improved preparing method, enhanced quality and yield of end product. 1 tbl, 1 ex
