PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for controlling illuminance of a lamp are provided to control and maintain constantly an illuminance value of the lamp by storing kinds and illuminance values of lamps. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for controlling illuminance of a lamp includes a power supply unit(10), a zero cross detection unit(20), a control signal input unit(30), a setup unit(40), a display unit(50), a storage unit(60), a control unit(70), and a drive unit(80). The power supply unit(10) generates the predetermined rated voltage by rectifying the external AC voltage. The zero cross detection unit(20) detects a zero point of an AC signal and generates a pulse control signal. The control signal input unit(30) receives a lamp control signal from a user. The setup unit(40) sets up a falling range of the illuminance. The display unit(50) displays the kinds and of the illuminance of lamp by using a display member. The storage unit(60) stores the illuminance value and the setup value of the corresponding lamp. The control unit(70) performs a control operation according to the pulse control signal and the lamp control signal. The drive unit(80) controls the lamp according to a control signal of the control unit(70).
