PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an SOM preparing device improved so as to provide highly reliable sorting and visual recognition of a distance between cells. SOLUTION: The SOM preparing device is provided with a learning data reading part reading learning data including vector data comprising sets of numeric values, a map preparing part preparing a map with pieces of positional information allocated in cells regularly arranged on a two-dimensional plane on the basis of a plurality of pieces of learning data read by the learning data reading part, a distance calculating part calculating the distance between each cell on the map on the basis of the allocated positional information, and a distance display part for visually displaying the distance calculated by the distance calculating part on the map.
