PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the bulge of a battery jar of a storage battery using a battery jar divided at a lower part thereof. SOLUTION: For the storage battery in which a battery jar is divided at a lower part thereof to form a hollow portion in the battery jar, a group of plates is contained in each chamber surrounded by an outer wall forming an outer periphery of the battery jar and a wall on the side of the hollow portion, which forms the hollow portion, within the battery jar, and a lid is fitted, the thickness of the wall on the side of the hollow portion forming the battery jar is made thinner than that of the outer wall to concentrate bulge only on the side of the hollow portion, thereby preventing deformation of the outer wall, so that no apparent deformation is present to able to increase a commercial value and make its removal from an installation case easy.
