PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply correct a black level with high performance and at a low cost. SOLUTION: A prescribed value is entered to an analog system circuit of an image processing apparatus 1. The image processing apparatus 1 acquires input/output characteristics including a linear region and a nonlinear region by detecting the output signal level of the analog system circuit, and references the input/output characteristics acquired at photographing to apply corrections to make sensor output linear. Thus, even when an input signal level of a PGA (Programmable Gain Amplifier) 30 resides in the nonlinear region in the input/ output characteristics of the PGA 30, the image processing apparatus can obtain a proper output signal level maintaining the linearity to extend a dynamic range up to the nonlinear region. That is, since the dynamic range of an ADC 40 can effectively be utilized, the image quality of an electronic camera can be enhanced. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
