<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a QAM modulation system wherein a numeric value approximates to 2<SP>(p+1/3)</SP>(where p is an integer of at least 2) can be used as a multivalue number. <P>SOLUTION: An input data signal of (3p+1) row is converted to three signals of (p+1) row which have a prescribed relation, and the respective signals are assigned to three phase planes. The signals are subjected to multivalue modulation by time-division multiplexing the signals, so that the QAM modulation system, wherein a numeric value approximate to a 2<SP>(p+1/3)</SP>can be used as a multivalue number, is realized. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
