The sterilisation is carried out by introducing a microbiocide gas, beta-propiolactone or propylene oxide at a pressure above atmospheric. After the process is finished, the gas is evacuated through a trap and a filter which is soaked with an alkaline solution. This is then passed to a heat exchanger for separation and recovery of the biocide acid (or glycol) which is formed on neutraleration. The liquor passes to a collection vessel for recovery. Used for sterilising health care goods. (Provisional Basic previously advised in Week K17).
|
