PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide communication equipment and a communicating method capable of shortening a communication time in communication mixed with color information of a routine size and color information of a non-routine size. SOLUTION: The existence/absence of a JPEG receiving function of a receiver side is detected, information as to whether JPEG-coded information to be transmitted is information of a routine size or information of a non-routine size is notified with a post message signal, and the existence/absence of a receiving function corresponding to the notification is detected on the basis of the post message signal from the receiver side.
