PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To parallelize the relative movement direction of a magnet and a coil with the axis of the coil. SOLUTION: A jacket shrouds a coil 21 in an outer wall 22A along the outside peripheral face of the coil 21, an inwall 22b along the inside peripheral face, and plate-ring-shaped parts 22C and 22D severally along both end faces. This linear motor allows a refrigerant to flow in or flow out of the jacket, permanent magnets 31-34 are arranged outside the jacket such that they catch the straight part of the coil, and the permanent magnets are coupled with yokes 35A and 35D.
