PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an office telephone system for enhancing convenience when employees (users) communicate each other through telephone, though a number check is not linked with the call, which causes inconvenience in a conventional system. SOLUTION: A Web server 5 stores the telephone number information obtained by relating user names to the telephone numbers by a hierarchical structure concerning a portable set 1 in hand. The arbitrary portable set 1 comprises a browser function to be connected to the Web server 5, reads or retrieves the telephone number information in response to the hierarchical structure, receives read information or retrieval information, and displays it. The arbitrary telephone number information is selected from the displayed read or retrieval information. In the case of off-hook, a call is performed by the telephone number in the selected telephone number information, and telephone directory data is updated and registered. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
