PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a further low-resistance chip-type thermistor, by increasing the areas of its electrodes, without altering the dimension of its chip-type thermistor element body. SOLUTION: The chip-type thermistor includes a rectangular parallelopiped- like chip elementary body, having three pairs of side surfaces opposed to each other and includes main electrode portions, which are formed respectively on a pair of opposite rectangular side surfaces to each other, including the major sides of the chip elementary body. Each external electrode of the chip-type thermistor comprises each main electrode portion and each side-surface electrode portion, which is so formed that each side-surface electrode portion penetrates from each of the pair of side surfaces, whereon the main electrode portions are formed to the other four side surfaces adjacent thereto.
