PURPOSE: A device for processing caption data of a digital TV is provided to realize the extraction and control of digital caption data and increase the caption watching efficiency, thereby realizing the graphic processing system satisfying digital caption broadcasting processing regulations of the FCC(Federal Communications Commission). CONSTITUTION: A device for processing caption data of a digital TV having a graphic processing system includes a DTVCC decoder part(100) and an MPEG-2 video processing part(200). The DTVCC decoder part includes a DTVCC extractor(110) for separating caption commands and caption texts by dissolving digital caption packet data in a user data area of an MPEG-2 video. A command processing part(140) carries out functions or procedure required for the caption commands. A bit map font generator(120) generates bit map type font data according to the caption text input. A font post-processor(130) carries out post-processing to add special effects such as outlines, solid feeling, shadows and the like to edges of the bit map font data. A caption screen controller(150) controls the bit map font data processed according to the caption command to a screen. The MPEG-2 video processing part extracts screen control codes and text information from digital broadcasting signals and processing the same. |
