The rubbing block (1) consists of a wearing block (2) and support (4). The wearing block has a contact block (22) made from a carbonated material resistant to abrasion and of hardness Shore C2 equal to 80 or more. The contact block is surrounded by a sheath (21) which is of carbonated/graphited material with a high thermal conductivity and hardness Shore C2 equal to 70. Both blocks make contact with a fixed conductor (30). An Independent claim is also included for a rubbing contact for pantographs and third rails which uses the wearing block with contact block and sheath.
