The two stroke engine has a crown piston (6) moving in a cylinder (1) comprising an annular chamber which divides the piston crown into two variable volumes (5,2) according to its position. The piston has ports (8) communicating with transfer passages (9) from the approach of the Top Dead Center. The gas mixture is admitted into the annular chamber variable volume (5) through valves (C3), which open by depression during rise of the piston, compressed during the piston rise then transferred into the volume (4) of the pump casing through the transfer passage and ports. The pump casing comprises other fresh gas mixture inlet valves (C1). Pure air is admitted into the variable volume (2) through valves (C2), compressed and transferred into the combustion chamber (1) through ports uncovered by the piston skirt before Bottom Dead Center.
