PURPOSE: An LCD and a driving method thereof are provided to drive an LCD panel according to a dot inversion method and reduce the power consumption by using a driving device of a line inversion method. CONSTITUTION: An LCD includes an LCD panel(12) and an LCD driving portion. The LCD panel(12) includes a plurality of gate lines, a plurality of data lines, a plurality of liquid crystal cells including TFTs. The LCD driving portion drives the liquid crystal cells according to a dot inversion method by supplying pixel voltage signals to the liquid crystal cells in each horizontal period by a line inversion method. The LCD driving portion includes a gate driver(14) for driving the gate lines, a data driver(16) for converting pixel data to pixel voltage and supplying them to the data lines, a common voltage generation portion(20) for supplying a common voltage as a reference voltage, and a timing control portion(18) for controlling the gate driver(14) and the data driver(16).
