PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a male terminal fitting with ease. SOLUTION: By giving an extensive form punched from a metal plate as a mother material a bending treatment, a tab 13 is molded in a cross-section U-shape with cutoff end faces 14a, 15a of a bottom wall part 14 and a ceiling wall part 15 facing each other at top and bottom. By giving the cutoff end faces 14a, 15a of the bottom wall part 14 and the ceiling wall part 15 a hammering treatment with a movable jig 32 with the tab 13 in a state housed in a housing room 31 of a fixed jig 30, the bottom wall part 14 and the ceiling wall part 15 are crushed, and at the same time, a bottom-side support projection part 17 and a top-side support projection part 18 are molded in a state confronted with each other. Since the both support projection parts 17, 18 are now molded by a hammering treatment, lessened dimensions of projection of the support projections 17, 18 due to miniaturization of the male terminal fitting can be easily accommodated by reducing an amount of crushing of the bottom wall part 14 and the ceiling wall part 15.
