PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a switch in which sufficient arc-extinguishing performance can be obtained without enlarging the size of the equipment even if the consumption of the SF<SB>6</SB>gas is reduced. SOLUTION: A powder generation device 4 is installed on the upper part of an enclosed vessel 3 to feed powder 6 as particles. The powder 6 fed to an arc space is dissolved and evaporated or sublimed by high temperature and takes heat energy from the surrounding as dissolution heat and evaporation heat or sublimation heat. As a result, the loss of the heat energy of the arc space and an arc is increased and the arc-extinguishing performance is improved. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
