PURPOSE:To make it possible to convert a closs type body to an open type, by dividing the roof of a car into a front roof and a rear roof and by allowing the front roof to longitudinally slide for opening and closing the front roof. CONSTITUTION:During the normal use, a front roof is completely closed at its frontmost position so that a closed type body is formed. In order to convert the body from this closed type to the open type, both side glasses 5 are raised to be closed by operating opening and closing devices which are not shown. Then, a roof operating motor is driven to rotate pinions 28 through worms 24, worm wheels 25 and flexible shafts 27, and therefore, the front roof is slid rearward along rear guide rails 7 including rack gears meshed with the pinions 28. In this stage, the front part of the front roof 1 is supported by supporting arms 10 each having at its lower end a guide 11 engaged with a guide rail 6 attached to the upper edge of each side glass 5, and is also guided by the supporting arms 10 along the guide rails 6. |
