<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize the effect to reduce the deterioration of playback performance due to the influence of crosstalk, etc., with respect to a plurality of kinds of recording media. <P>SOLUTION: The optical head 22 is furnished with: a laser diode 51 serving as a light source; a grating 52 for separating the light coming from the light source; a beam splitter 53 for changing an optical path; a collimating lens 54 for converting diffused light beams to parallel light beams; an objective lens 55 for focusing; a Wollaston prism 56 for separating the light beams; a cylindrical lens 57 for removing the astigmatism; and a photodetector 58 for detecting the light intensity.
