PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing an electrolytic capacitor for preventing the separation of welded lead and rivet caused by horizontal vibration of an ultrasonic machining horn to secure their suitable connection, to make the end face of an external terminal resistant to scratches even in a transfer failure, and to respond the need of automation with ease. SOLUTION: In the method of manufacturing an electrolytic capacitor, a lead derived from a capacitor element is inserted into a rivet of an external terminal which is fixed to a sealing member, and the head portion of the rivet is caulked for fixation via a washer. Then, the end portion of the lead is folded back, placed on the head portion of the rivet, and connected by ultrasonic welding. Step portions are formed on peripheral corners of the external terminal. Furthermore, before the ultrasonic welding is performed, the external terminal is fixed by a fixed lower table that has an upper end face having an uneven surface that abut the step portions of the external terminal and a recess portion fitting the outline of the end of the external terminal.
