<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for removing a traveling object on a road image, which prepares a road background image wherein the influence of the reflection of traveling objects traveling at a low speed and traveling objects stopping temporarily on a road background image is removed and information notifying that no road background can be extracted about a part where the influence can not be removed within a certain period of time is attached. <P>SOLUTION: A traveling object mask image is prepared from a road image is prepared with traveling object mask information prepared from the road image, and image combination that subsequently updates only a part except a mask image of the traveling object mask image with an initial traveling object mask image as a base is repeated at a prescribed number of times, thereby removing the influence of the reflection of the traveling objects traveling at a low speed and the traveling objects stopping temporarily.
