PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the reliability and safety of delivery confirmation information showing the fact of electronic mail transmission and reception on a network. SOLUTION: In an electronic document delivery system which delivers a corresponding electronic document at a request from a receiver device after receiving the electronic document addressed to a specified destination from a sender device, an electronic document delivery server device once receiving a request to deliver the electronic document from the sender device generates delivery confirmation information indicating the acceptance of the request, then generates delivery information indicating transmission of notice after sending delivery notice to the receiver device, refers to previously registered receiving means information to inquire a receiving means of the receiver device, receives a receiving means indication from the receiver device, transmits converted delivery data to the receiver device after performing delivery data conversion corresponding to the receiving means, and generates delivery confirmation information indicating reception once receiving reception confirmation from the receiver device.
