PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a recording tape cartridge which is provided with a leader section held by the simple actuation of drawing-out means of a driver and can downsize the leader section. SOLUTION: The recording tape cartridge 10 is rotatably housed with a reel wound with the magnetic tape 14 within a case 12 and is provided with the leader section 18 at the front end of the recording tape 14. The leader section 18 has a leader tape 38 connected to the magnetic tape 14 and holding blocks 42 and 44 which are disposed on the outer side in the vertical direction of the front end of the leader tape 38, are held to face an opening 26 of the case 12 and are exposed in this state from notched parts 28 and 30. The leader tape is held between a stationary pin 80 and an expansion and contraction pin 78 in the holding blocks 42 and 44, by which the leader tape is held in guiding means 70 of the driver and is detached from the case 12 by movement of the guiding means 70.
