PURPOSE:To separate labor-savingly serum from disturbing materials such as blood cells and platelets, and to miniaturize the necessary apparatus, by applying an electrophoretic technique to determination of blood glucose. CONSTITUTION:A fixed electrode 7 is arranged at the bottom of a vessel A, and a downward movable electrode 8 which can pass through serum 2 is arranged in the vessel A. A dc current source 9 is connected between electrodes 7 and 8 through a lead line 10. Then, when a blood sample 1 is placed in the vessel A, and the electrode 8 is slowly transferred downward through the blood sample 1 with continuous impression of the voltage between electrodes 7 and 8, the serum 2 is separated above the electrode 8, and the disturbing materials are collected below the electrode 8. Then, separated serum 2 is determined with a conventional measuring means for bood sugar. Thus, the present apparatus can be made up smaller and less expensive, and be performed with less labor and with quite less damage of blood cells during separating operation. |
