METHOD FOR PREVENTING DAMAGE OF STONE AND WOOD CULTURAL ASSETS FROM MICROORGANISM BY USING PSORALEN

PURPOSE: A method of preventing the damage of stone and wood cultural assets from a microorganism by effectively removing the microorganism which corrodes them while growing thereon, by using a psoralen solution is provided. Therefore, it is environmentally friendly and need not wash after treatment with the psoralen solution, thereby protecting cultural assets from corrosion generated during washing. CONSTITUTION: Any one of psoralen, 8-methoxypsoralen and 4,5',8-trimethylpsoralen is dissolved in distilled water at room temperature to make a psoralen solution having a concentration of 1 to 20mM. Thereafter, it is sprayed on a microorganism which grows on the surface of stone and wood cultural assets and irradiated with UV light to inhibit the gene expression and replication of the microorganism through the photochemical reaction of psoralen, allowing it to stand without washing.
