<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide fuel cell using mixed fuel gas of fuel such as methane and oxygen, preventing explosion of the mixed fuel gas, and capable of using mixed fuel gas with increased oxygen concentration so as to enhance power generating efficiency of a used fuel cell. <P>SOLUTION: In the fuel cell, the mixed fuel gas containing the fuel gas such as methane and the oxygen is supplied to the fuel cell housed in a container 20 to generate power, and the gas having passed the fuel cell is exhausted from the container 20 as exhaust gas. It is characterized by that a gap between fillers of packed layers 26a and 26b formed by packing the fillers in space parts 22 and 26 in the container 20 excluding the fuel cells and allowing flowing of the mixed fuel gas and the exhaust gas is formed as a gap preventing ignition even when the fuel cell is driven and the mixed fuel gas within an ignitability limit exists in the packed layers 26a and 26b, and a combustion part 18 for burning the exhaust gas exhausted from the packed layer 26b is provided right near an exhaust gas outlet of the packed layer 26b. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
