<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water content sensor to sense the amount of the water contained in a gas to be measured and a fuel cell system capable of controlling properly the internal water content of the fuel cell. <P>SOLUTION: The water content sensor is composed of electrochemical cells 240 and 340 to generate electric energy through a chemical reaction of the gas measured supplied to electrodes 240a and 340a with the reference gas supplied to the other electrodes 240b and 340b, voltage sensing parts 241 and 341, and control circuits 243 and 343 to control the voltages or currents of the electrochemical cells 240 and 340, whereby the water content of the gas measured is sensed on the basis of the amperage when a constant voltage control is conducted or the voltage value when a constant current control is conducted. Using this sensor, the water content of the exhaust gas or supply gas from/to the fuel cell is determined, and based on the obtained result, the water content of the fuel cell is controlled using an internal water content controlling means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
