PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safe and complete motor operation device and a method for stopping the motor operation device, capable of avoiding abnormal phenomena, such as the generation of an excessive voltage in the motor operation device after shutting down power. SOLUTION: In this motor operation device which is a reactor start type motor operation device provided with a power factor improvement capacitor, the power is inputted in a main contactor 1, a power voltage is reduced by a reactor 6 for starting to be supplied to the motor 9 for starting, a contactor 2 for operation is subjected to timing-on, the reactor 6 for starting is shorted, and the power voltage is supplied to the motor 9 without decompression to be shifted to steady motion, there are provided a detection means 10 for detecting an operating condition of the motor 9 after cutting off the power by the main contactor 1, and a comparison means 18 for comparing a detected value of the detection means 10 with a prescribed set value to output a comparison result as a control signal. This device is structured so that a contactor 2 for operation is released when the detected value of the detection means 10 becomes at and less than a prescribed value. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
