摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery having a reduced deterioration in its performance without impairing the energy density of the battery. <P>SOLUTION: The battery is composed of a negative electrode current collector 1c, a positive electrode current collector 2c, a carbon negative electrode 3c, a positive electrode active material 5c containing manganese, and a separator 6c, wherein a manganese capturing layer to capture manganese ions as a cause of a deterioration in battery performance is formed on the carbon negative electrode 3c. The manganese capturing layer is composed of a second capturing layer 8c consisting of a simple substance of metal such as silicon or tin and a first capturing layer 7c consisting of oxide of such a simple substance of silicon or tin. Because the first capturing layer 7c and the second capturing layer 8c have the lithium occluding and emitting abilities, equipment of such layers does not cause a deterioration in energy density. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
