<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material information provision method and a system simply and surely performing an operation such as sorting of materials and products, determination of the genuine/counterfeit, or a follow-up survey. <P>SOLUTION: When a material including an information provision substance is produced, information of the information provision substance included in the material and material information are mutually linked together and registered in a storage part 13 of a server 1 as database. The information provision substance included in the material is detected by a scanner 5 provided in a terminal 4 of a user, and the detection result is transmitted from a terminal 2 of the user to the server via a network. The server 1 collates the detection result of the information provision substance with the database so as to specify the information related to the material and the information of the specified material is transmitted to the terminal 4 of the user via the network.
