PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate only equivalent pulses in a vertical synchronization period while maintaining the phase relation between a vertical synchronizing signal and a horizontal synchronizing signal. SOLUTION: An equivalent pulse eliminating circuit for eliminating equivalent pulses in the synchronization period of the vertical synchronizing signal has a first counting circuit 6 and a second counting circuit 11 which are constituted so as to alternately start the operation, so that equivalent pulses in the synchronization period of the vertical synchronizing signal are eliminated with a small circuit scale.
