PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for keeping information secret in which a plurality of pieces of secret information are efficiently and securely kept secret. SOLUTION: This method for keeping information secret for distributing the plurality of secret information in an image and keeping the secret information secret includes an area setting step for setting an embedding area for an optional secret information among the plurality of pieces of secret information in an area that does not overlap on the embedding area of the other secret information (S1), a distribution key setting step for setting a key for the optional secret information (S2), and a distribution secret information embedding step (S4) for embedding the optional secret information in image data of the set embedding area (S4), respectively performs each of the steps for the plurality of pieces of secret information (S5), embeds the plurality of pieces of secret information in an area with no images overlapped, and can respectively extract secret information corresponding to the set key from the image data of each embedding area with the set key.
