PURPOSE: A management system for the rechargable battery is provided to control equally energy levels of unit cells without an external power source by using the remaining current of a battery. CONSTITUTION: A management system includes a serial/parallel conversion unit(2), a start switch(1), a DC/DC converter(5), a battery discharge unit(4), and a charging unit(3). One or more unit cells are loaded within the serial/parallel conversion unit(2). The serial/parallel conversion unit(2) includes a switching unit for switching selectively the unit cells. The start switch(1) is used for resetting the unit cells. The DC/DC converter(5) is connected to the switching unit of the serial/parallel conversion unit(2) in order to connect serially the unit cells to each other. The battery discharge unit(4) is connected between the DC/DC converter(5) and the serial/parallel conversion unit(2) in order to discharge a charging battery. The charging unit(3) is used for discharging the charging battery.
