PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a moving picture display device which reduces blur caused by movement to improve the picture display characteristics when displaying a moving picture having the small number of frames. SOLUTION: The moving picture display device is provided with a picture holding block for holding a one-frame portion or more of image data for a one-frame period or longer, an another display data generating and holding block for generating and holding another display data different from the image data, a sub-frame generating block for dividing the frame period to generate a plurality of sub-frames, a display data selecting block for selecting one of the image data and another display data as display data by sub-frames, a display element driving signal generating block for generating a signal for driving display elements by sub-frames and a picture display light emitting block for generating picture display light on the basis of the driving signal generated in the display element driving signal generating block by using the display data selected in the display data selecting block.
