PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data recording/reproducing device capable of correcting a skip start position and a skip end position by an operation simpler than in a conventional practice and within a short time. SOLUTION: The data recording/reproducing device records start position information indicating a reproducing position at a start position marker operation and first and second bits of position information indicating positions before and after the above position on a recording medium in accordance with the marker operation during the reproduction of a series of data. The device further records end position information indicating a reproducing position at an end position marker operation and third and fourth bits of information indicating positions before and after the above position on the recording medium in accordance with the end position maker operation. Then, after the series of data are reproduced from the first position to the second position in accordance with a marker editing operation, a reproducing operation from the third position to the fourth position is started. In accordance with the start position marker operation, the start position information is rewritten to the position information of a reproducing position at the operation and, in accordance with the end position marker operation, the end position information is rewritten to the position information of a reproducing information at the time of the operation.
