PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an interphone system that can be operated easily and, in addition, can more easily specify visitors. SOLUTION: When a visitor presses the push-button switch of the chime switch section 211 of a slave interphone 2, a fingerprint detecting device 220 provided in the button section of the push-button switch detects the fingerprint of the finger of the visitor printed on the button section. The fingerprint data outputted from the detecting device 220 are transmitted to a server computer 3 together with time data generated in a clock circuit 222. The server computer 3 collates the detected fingerprint data with fingerprint data preregistered in a fingerprint data base 35. When the fingerprint data are coincident with one preregistered fingerprint data, the computer 3 extracts the personal data also preregistered in the data base 35 together with the fingerprint data, and transmits the data to a master interphone 1 and the data are displayed on a display 117. When the detected fingerprint data are not coincident with any preregistered fingerprint data, the computer 3 causes a registration processing section 33 to register the fingerprint data in the fingerprint data base 35 for future fingerprint collation.
