PURPOSE: A multi-functional apparatus having a plurality of reproducing devices and a method for controlling operation thereof are provided to automatically or manually convert one of the reproducing devices into a pause mode or stop mode. CONSTITUTION: A selecting unit(130) selects a reproducing signal output from one of a plurality of reproducing devices in converting a mode into a reproducing mode. A selection information storing unit(115a) stores selection information related to the reproducing device outputting the reproducing signal. A control unit(115) controls the reproducing device to be converted into one of a pause mode and a stop mode when the selection information is changed into another reproducing device.
