<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high pressure discharge lamp having an improved total luminous flux almost equal to or more than a transparent type or a correlated color temperature almost equal thereto even in a diffusion type. <P>SOLUTION: The metal halide lamp comprises a translucent tube 1 equipped with a translucent discharge container 1a, a pair of electrodes 1b, 1b enclosed in the translucent discharge tube 1a and a discharge medium containing Na, Sc enclosed into the translucent discharge container 1a, an outer tube 2 and a phosphor layer 3 arranged within the outer tube 2, having blue light emission (B) at 440-460 nm, green light emission (G) at 505-525 nm and red light emission (R) at 585-605 nm, all, in terms of emission peak wavelength, in which a radiant power ratio among the light emission of the respective colors satisfies the relationship of B:G:R=(0.5-1.1):(1.0-1.7):1.0. The light-emitting tube 1 preferably has a bulb wall load of 16-30 W/cm<SP>2</SP>when lamp power is 500 W or lower. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
