The clutch position determination method uses measurement of the engine revs and the wheel velocity and comparison of the quotient of the engine revs and the wheel velocity or a derived value (3) with respective threshold values (1,2) dependent on the selected gear ratio, for providing a clutch disengagement indication flag (4) when the threshold value is exceded. An Independent claim for engine drive torque regulation is also included.
