The invention relates to a method for configuring a payment transaction terminal (10). According to said method, a configuration form (30) that can be filled in is displayed by a browser (26) executed by an operator computer (28). Input data (34) that correspond to entries in the filled in configuration form (30) and that have a data format determined by the browser (26) are transmitted by the browser (26) to a processor (42). Said processor generates charge data (24) subject to the input data (34), said charge data (24) having a data format determined by the payment transaction terminal (10), and the payment transaction terminal (10) is configured by means of said charge data (24). A computer-readable data carrier and a payment transaction terminal are provided with corresponding features. The invention simplifies the configuration of payment transaction terminals, avoids errors and reduces the time and money required for configuration.
