Disclosed is a method and system that displays notifications to a user on a television system. The notifications comprise recent events occuring in subjects of importance to the user. The user may view data and video clips of the recent event, web pages, enhanced web pages, and alternate channels. Access is provided through the Internet, to enhance web pages designed specifically for television, and regular web pages.
