<p>A system (8) and method for determining an individualized drug dosage is provided. The system (8) includes a metabolic rate sensing means (16) for sensing the metabolic rate of the individual. The system (8) also includes a computing device (9) having a processor (10), a memory (14), an input device (11), and a display device (12). The system (8) further includes a data storage means (14) operatively in communication with the processor (10), and the data storage (14) means includes a drug database containing drug dosage data. The method includes the steps of determining a standardized dosage for a drug. The method also includes the steps of measuring the actual metabolic rate (block 24) of the individual and determining a metabolic comparison factor (26) by comparing the measured actual metabolic rate to a predetermined standard metabolic rate. The method further includes the steps of adjusting the standardized drug dosage (block 27) using the comparison factor.</p> |
