Sauerkraut portioning assembly discharges through helical conveyer to tube separated by knife from measuring chamber with compressed air discharge

A portioning assembly dispenses a fibrous or paste product e.g. sauerkraut (pickled white cabbage). The assembly has a hopper (1) discharging to a helical conveyer (2) pipe and measuring chamber (4) to an outlet (5). A sliding knife (31) is located between the feed pipe (2) and measuring chamber (4). The knife blade (31) rises and falls filling a gap whose limits are defined by the blade guide (32). The measuring chamber (4) has a measuring sensor (6) which triggers discharge of the chamber contents when the contents reach a pre-determined level. The measuring chamber (4) has a compressed air supply (7) on the inlet side. On receipt of a signal from the sensor (6) a control unit (8) holds the knife blade down while a pulse of compressed air discharges the chamber (4) contents.
