The cleaning device (21) has a nozzle on the branch free (B) side of the filter housing (G) so the spray from the nozzle points towards the entry surface (13) of the filter (G). Thus in flow direction (L) the nozzle spray strikes the face at an angle. The spray is swept across the filter face by water pressure and/or a shifter drive (P). The nozzle is fixed in place and shortens the filter entry face transverse to flow line (L). The several nozzle orifices give a three-dimensional spray figure (S).
