In accordance with a preferred embodiment of the present invention, a method for preventing call forwarding in group calls in a mobile network is provided, whereby a redirection counter in an Initial Address Message (IAM) is assigned a predetermined value that causes the network to disconnect a party to a group call if, for example, call forwarding is being used by that party's phone.
