The wind deflector is for the leading end of an opening in an automobile roof, where at least one roof element slides along guide rails (44) at the sides of the roof opening. A moving slide (30) at the rear end of each guide rail is linked to a drive, together with a coupling push unit (34) connected to the rear drive which can be coupled either to the wind deflector or the control push unit (22) for the roof elements so that, in the forward movement (28), each element is raised and then advanced behind the wind deflector.
