The invention concerns a clamping chuck in which is embodied a central receptacle (<bold>4</highlight>) for the shank of a workpiece or tool to be clamped, and a clamping mechanism (<bold>6</highlight>), a stop element (<bold>9</highlight>) that can be axially adjusted by means of an adjusting device (<bold>12</highlight>) being provided for axial positioning of the shank in the receptacle (<bold>4</highlight>), such that the adjusting device (<bold>12</highlight>) is configured as a worm gear drive having a worm (<bold>13</highlight>) rotatably mounted transversely to the receptacle (<bold>4</highlight>) in the chuck body (<bold>1</highlight>) and a worm gear (<bold>14</highlight>) arranged coaxially with the receptacle (<bold>4</highlight>).
