The sensor-machine interface (1) for coupling of at least one sensor to at least one machine has at least one sensor input (5) for receipt of sensor status signals, at least one machine output (8), for transmission of machine command signals, a program memory (11) and a controller for program-controlled regulation of machine output dependent on the signals received from the sensor. The sensor-machine interface and its program memory and control unit are independent of the machine controlling computer. An Independent claim is included for a corresponding method for operation of the inventive interface.
