The circuit device has at least 2 magnetoresistive circuit elements (E1,E2; E3,E4), each provided with a soft magnetic detection layer, a hard magnetic reference layer and an intermediate layer of a non-magnetic material, the magnetoresistive circuit elements providing output signals of opposite sign in response to an external magnetic field, obtained by using a different layer structure for their detection layers. The circuit device can have 4 magnetoresistive circuit elements (E1,E2; E3,E4) connected in a Wheatstone bridge, with conductor paths (3a,3b; 8a,8b) in upper and lower conductor path planes, the diagonally opposing elements of both bridge arms (Z1,Z2) providing output signals with the same sign.
